CULTURAL & COMMUNITY EVENTS

CONEY X UCL CULTURES
Wrote the script for the live events of the "Incognito Society", a virtual game designed by myself and a team of game-makers commissioned by UCL for students to engage with the university museum collections during lockdown.

BABYLON MOVIE NIGHT
Co-organised and facilitated a movie night and discussion of the 1980 Black British cult film, Babylon. Featured guest appearance by the actor Brian Bovell. Organised as part of the A History of Everyone Else series.

SUPPER FREAK IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE
Wrote the script for 'Supper Freak', an immersive funk and soul event for over 200 guests for a sold-out run at the Bloomsbury Ballroom in London.

NO SMALL TALK PARTY
Launched & hosted Berlin's first 'No Small Talk' Party, bringing together over 50 strangers once a month to share their life stories and answer deep questions together in small groups!

'WHAT'S AFGHAN PUNK ROCK, ANYWAY?' LAUNCH & EVENT SERIES
Co-curated a series of events celebrating a new zine with artist & activist Armeghan Taheri, creating space for exchange, debate and creativity amongst the Muslim community in Germany and beyond.

#THURSDAYLIVE CONCERT SERIES AT BE'KECH
Curated a weekly concert series at be'kech anti-cafe in Berlin, highlighting musicians of diverse genres and backgrounds. Photo by Anna Wyszomierska.

TUESDAY COWORKING EVENT SERIES
In 2019, I curated a series of summer events for the tuesday coworking community in Berlin. Events included a 'women in comedy' workshop, a poetry night, a diversity and inclusion training, a Sofar Sounds concert and more.
AFROPEAN NIGHTS SERIES
I produced and curated this event series during my EU-funded curatorial residency at be'kech anti-cafe in Berlin in Autumn 2018.

AFROPEAN NIGHTS: A CONVERSATION IN BERLIN
Organised and facilitated an intimate evening salon discussion for black Europeans in Berlin, touching on topics of identity, racism, family and more.

AFROPEAN NIGHTS: HAIR STORIES
Hosted an interactive event exploring the world of afro-hair. Included music, discussions, artwork, and spoken word poetry. Co-organised with Johanna Lukate PhD (see her TEDx talk here).

AFROPEAN NIGHTS: WE WANNA GO HOME
Co-curated a photography exhibition and talk with architect Thierno Amadou Diallo, reflection on notions of home, travel, and African diasporic identity.

AFRICAN STORY NIGHT
In collaboration with Paivapo, I hosted and supported the curation of an African storytelling event focused on the theme "Endings and Beginnings" in Berlin.

QWEERFEST LONDON 2021
A member of the Qweer Collective, organising a day and night festival for queer womxn and non-binary people at the Apple Tree in London (Spring 2021).

ADVOCACY ACADEMY YOUTH EXCHANGE
Organised and curated 2-days of interactive workshops, guest speakers and a cultural exchange between The Advocacy Academy and 'Each One Teach One' during their alumni residential in Berlin. Workshop leaders included No Shade (DJ Collective), Fossil Free Berlin, and leading activist Fatuma Musa Afrah.

AFRICAN GIFTED FOUNDATION GALA
A member of the events team for a gala at BAFTA, raising funds and awareness for the African Science Academy in Ghana. Included a 3-course meal, live music by RUE and entertainment for 300 guests.

TECH OPEN AIR FESTIVAL: SATELLITE EVENTS
Curated a panel discussion and exhibition: "AI and Play: The Future of Creativity" for tuesday coworking in Berlin, as part of the annual Tech Open Air Conference.

YOUTH POWER FESTIVAL
Lead organiser of Restless Development's 2017 Youth Power Festival - a full day and night of activism-inspired workshops, talks and cultural activities taking place at Platform Southwark.
POLITICAL & ACTIVISM EVENTS

FACTS, LIES AND HATE ONLINE
Organised a panel discussion with fact-checker and activist Karolin Schwarz, moderated by journalist Josephine Huetlin. Hosted by be'kech anti-cafe in Berlin.

UNFILTERED: BREAK OUT OF YOUR ECHO CHAMBER
Led a team of youth volunteers to co-create an event exploring social media. Featured an immersive exhibition bringing Facebook "to life", plus debates, multi-media displays, live music. Event attended by over 100 young people. Curated for International Youth Day with Restless Development and hosted at Rich Mix in Shoreditch.

BREXIT LIVE: YOUTH DEICDE
Co-organised and wrote the script for an immersive role-play event allowing participants to explore different attitudes towards Brexit, followed by a panel debate. Hosted at Restless Development HQ.

YOUTH DECIDE: DISPLACED AND DETERMINED
Led a team of youth volunteers with Restless Development to co-organise a panel discussion and market-place event focused on stories of migration. Moderated by journalist Reni Eddo-Lodge and featuring LGBTQ+ rights activist Bisi Alimi, the event was hosted by The Africa Centre in London.

MENTAL HEALTH, THE WORLD AND YOU
Led a team of youth volunteers with Restless Development to co-curate a panel event exploring youth people and global mental health. Hosted at the Impact Hub in Birmingham.

YOUTH MOVEMENTS MEET-UP
Organised and facilitated a meet-up and discussion for leading youth activists in London. Hosted at Restless Development HQ.

PEMBROKE POLITICS SOCIETY
Founded & hosted Pembroke College Politics Society in Cambridge in 2013. I led a team to curate a year-long series of events for students, including a talk by Richard Dearlove about his time as head of MI6, and a film screening of 'Dirty Wars', in collaboration with the Positive Investment university campaign.

CAMBRIDGE INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE
Speakers Officer of a full-day conference for hundreds of Cambridge University students and international development professionals, featuring talks, workshops, debates and market stalls.
